This is a VR painting (sculpture? I still don’t know what to call these things! They’re paintings in space.) was inspired by some health challenges, and then by the poem that helps me through them. I wanted to look through the problem to the solution - so setting the image up in 3D space felt appropriate.
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.-Wendell Berry, 1968
This gif shows a little behind-the-scenes. I painted everything in Google Tilt Brush, then exported it all into Cinema4D to play with a camera movement. The other still images here were a photoshop painting that I brought into Tilt Brush to recreate.
