I teamed up with award-winning animator Heidi Kumao and composer Frank Pahl to make this official trailer for the 53rd AAFF.
This playful animation works between stop-motion animation of a force moving through terrain, and computer-generated postproduction and text creation. We wanted the grittiness and physicality of the paper to be pervasive throughout all of the elements.
Pahl's playful melody urges along these little invisible movements as they all gravitate toward Michigan.
Collaboration between Heidi Kumao and Collin McRae Leix for the 53rd Ann Arbor Film Festival. We blended stop-motion animation over a lightbox with the use of Cinema 4D and After Effects. Music by Frank Pahl and Klimperei, and map of US Rivers created by Nelson Minar.
